How far that little candle throws his beams!
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.
~William Shakespeare
Once again, GEVA is overwhelmed by the kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity of Harry Aleo.
In September 2006, when his Eclipse Award winning racehorse, Lost in the Fog, succumbed to cancer, Harry requested that those wishing to honor the Fog’s life send a donation to GEVA.
And then again in June 2008, aware his own death from cancer was imminent, Harry requested that those wishing to express their appreciation of his life send a donation to GEVA.
In the face of such generosity, such greatness of heart, we find ourselves at an utter loss. How can we ever adequately thank this extraordinary man who, not once but twice, remembered, and asked the world to remember, racehorses less fortunate, less fast, less sound than his own? Our hearts are so full words fail us completely.
Know, Harry, that we at GEVA will never forget you.
What a bright light you were. What a bright light you are. What a bright light you will always be.
